Home groups are an ideal way to explore your faith further, to share, learn and grow.  Some groups meet during the day but typically they meet on a weekday evening in peoples homes, consisting of around 8 or more people, meeting regularly as the group decides. Groups are made variously from New Way and Classic, so there is a good mix of people in most groups.  A typical evening consists of prayer, bible passage, study and discussion.  Some groups follow particular courses with an accompanying book, others simply pick topics to be discussed. We also watch videos and sometimes we sing.  It's a very fluid, friendly environment, and home groups often have their own social events.

Home Groups Connection Event - 1st June 2024

Members of Holy Cross Home groups met over tea, coffee, and delicious cake on  Saturday 1st June for a “Connection” event. There was a great turnout and a wonderful selection of home-made cakes to choose from. We were able to catch up with news from the seven group leaders about when and where each group meets and the types of bible study or discussion topics they have been focussing on. Members shared how much they value the fellowship and support of their groups as they build relationships with each other and God on their journeys of faith.

It was also wonderful to welcome some guests who were not currently part of a group but who had come to find out more and many have now arranged to join a group.

We finished with a short service of thanksgiving led by Ann Harrison, reflecting on Psalm 139. In this Psalm we are assured that no matter what we do, or where we go, we can never be far from God’s guiding and comforting presence.  

Ann shared a wonderful reflection by Maragret Silf called “Stripes” in which she recounts how a new-born zebra foal gazes at its mother for what seems like hours, memorising its mother’s unique stripe pattern. In a similar way we can think of God painting a unique pattern of his presence in each human life.

Through our connections with each other in our home groups we can begin to recognise this unbreakable connection that we have with God and become more attuned to his personal relationship with us unfolding minute by minute, every day.
